Seven men met in April 1977 to form a club: Larry Griffin, Terry Hazlewood, Woody
Hooper, Dean Johnson, Joe Long, Jim Ringer, and Ross Verbisky. They knew men in
St, Louis who had founded a similar organization, called Gateway M.C., two years earlier.

Tsarus is first and foremost a group of very good friends who strive to deepen their
friendship into brotherhood. According to the late Jeff Vann, "It has held the club together
all this time. If there was some sort of disagreement, we could put it aside until something
could be worked out. That's what brotherhood is all about. Individuals have left the club but
the club has continued. It has to be in here - IN THE HEART."

The first home bar of Tsarus in 1980 was Sharon's on Madison Avenue. This became
Jackie's in 1983. In 1986 the club moved it's home bar to J-Wagg's. In 1987, Tsarus again
had a home bar, the Pipeline. This closed in September 2000, but it's successor, The
Pumping Station , opened in the same location in February 2001 and still supports Tsarus
and we are proud to call them our home bar.

From the beginning Tsarus celebrated its anniversary with an outdoor weekend. The idea
for a run however came during a drive back from St. Louis. In keeping with the Eygptian
theme, the run was named AIDA, after an opera about an ancient eygptian slave girl who
kills herself for love.

The first AIDA was held in 1982 in Bluegoose, TN. The anniversary and run were soon
combined  into one weekend, so that AIDA now celebrates the club's anniversary. Thanks
to Jeff Vann, Tsarus is able to host AIDA on private property near Henderson, TN.
